Favourite Fishsticks: Destroyernator 2BX
I love the way Fishsticks feel, but I absolutely adore the way they look. I especially love the Destroyernator 2BX. They’re as heavy as a hammer, but don’t compromise on mobility. They give me the attack and power that I want from my stroke without sacrificing speed or rebound, so I can blast harder and faster with more confidence than ever.
Bio: I’m currently the drummer for Sydney deathcore outfit Wraith. I’ve been drumming since I was 11, but Wraith is the first band I’ve ever been a part of, and I’ve been nothing but blessed playing with these guys. I’ve been the drummer since its inception, and we’ve had an amazing couple of years with tours all around Australia, New Zealand and Japan. We just got off the road after touring around Australia for the Vulvodynia (RSA) Mob Justice Tour alongside our friends in Zeolite and To The Grave. Right now, we’re taking a much-needed break so we can work on getting some new material out there in the new year.
Hometown: Lalor Park, New South Wales
First Drum Set: Pearl Vision Series
Favourite Styles: Metalcore, Alt Rock, Punk/Pop Punk, Hip-Hop, Prog.
Current Bands: Wraith
Records I’ve featured on: “The Pale Hollow” by Wraith, “Split” by Wraith/Mauvais
Favourite Drummers and Biggest Influences: Paul Huntley (my dad); Travis Barker; Cobus Potgieter; Mike Portnoy; Gavin Harrison; Stewart Copeland; Danny Carey; Tim Yeung; John Dolmayan; Tony Royster Jnr; Thomas Pridgen; Taylor Hawkins; Eugene Ryabchenko; Nate Smith; Jojo Mayer
Bands I would love to tour with or already have: I’d love to tour with Thy Art Is Murder, but I’d really love to tour with bands that aren’t in Wraith’s genre like Knocked Loose or Kublai Khan TX.
To say I loved touring with The Gloom In The Corner; Mauvais, and 23/19 is an understatement, Wraith’s Artificial Bloom Tour was fortunate enough to be supported by these guys and I look back on it as one the best and easily the funniest tour we’ve done.
Most memorable moments: One of my most memorable moments is sitting down at the kit at Blacken Open Air in the Northern Territory. The sun was shining, the air was crisp, the views were spectacular, and everyone there was having a great time especially the blokes on the halfpipe tearing it up on their BMX’s and skateboards. Once soundcheck was done and we were ready to go, I shouted “RIGHT” at the top of my lungs and heard it echo through the valley, which was equally hilarious and awesome. We played a solid show, too. It was a weekend to remember.
